What’s good kids?
London just staged one hell of a weekend for me. I got down on Friday and spent the evening in the pub to celebrate one of my oldest friends’ birthday. All in all it was pretty tame, although the club we went to briefly at the end of the night served hotdogs, which I’m pretty sure every nightclub should from now on.
On Saturday me and two friends went to go and watch Lauryn Hill play at the IndigO2. I’d heard Ms. Hill was notorious for being late. Up to three hours in fact, so we didn’t rush. My skepticism was met by fortunate reward, since she arrived on stage as we entered the venue. What followed was an hour and a half of extremely intense, frenzied set from Lauryn who was on great form. All these elements, the rearranged songs, the raspy voice etc. are all things anybody who is a fan should have expected, so I was rolling my eyes at some other concert-goers who didn’t get what they came for.
After the show we high-tailed it off to Soho where, for the first time not for lack of trying on night’s gone by, we went to The Box. This was entirely thanks to a young man named Benjamin, who took care of everything. Seriously, it’s as hassle free a night out as I’ve ever had. I think it’s best to take the ‘Vegas approach’ in terms of talking about what goes on in there, specifically on stage where there are sporadic ‘performances’ all night long. Crazy.
Sunday was a sleepy one, followed by a very late brunch at a friend’s flat. My buddy cooked, there were about ten of us and it was a pretty grand old time. I was in charge of bread and juice, and much like Phoebe with her cups and ice, I went all out. I was too tired to go back home yesterday, so we chilled out last night and watched Tangled. What a film. So, I’m still here, writing to you all from my friend’s place in St. John’s Wood, about to get ready to head back to Cheshire. I thought it’d had been a while since I’d checked in over here in Tumblr, so forgive the detail if that’s not your thing.
As for other news, my brother got engaged last week to his long time girlfriend and one of my oldest school friends! There are five kids in the family and he’s the first one getting hitched, so everybody is excited. Also, I released my latest YouTube video ( http://youtu.be/ET3_TtuzmUQ ) a cover of fun’s We Are Young a little over a week ago and you’ve hit that up 20,000 times since, so a big thankyou for that. The week before Easter I got back from a three day business trip to LA. Can’t wait to share with you what exactly the business entailed! But for now, sit tight, keep well. Be good or be good at it.
